Overview

ibuildinpublic (“we”, “us”) operates ibuildinpublic.com and related domains, a platform for builders who share their work in public. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the service, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. Our Terms of Service govern your use of the platform.

Information we collect

Account information: email address, authentication identifiers from Supabase Auth, username, display name, and profile fields you choose to publish.

Usage and technical data: pages viewed, interactions (follows, likes, comments, messages), IP address, browser type, device information, and server logs needed to operate, secure, and debug the service.

Content you submit: profile and product pages, builder logs, help requests, involvement submissions, and support messages.

Waitlist and marketing: if you join the waitlist or subscribe to updates, we store your email and optional details you provide.

How we use information

Provide and improve the platform, including directory browsing, notifications, onboarding, and analytics shown to you about your own content.

Authenticate users, maintain sessions, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Communicate with you about your account, security, and product updates you opt into.

Measure aggregate site usage and performance through privacy-oriented analytics (see Cookies and analytics below) to understand how the product is used and where to improve it.

Service providers

We use trusted infrastructure providers to run the platform. They process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards:

Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.

Vercel — hosting and Vercel Web Analytics (aggregate page views and Web Vitals).

Plausible Analytics — optional, privacy-friendly analytics when enabled for our domain.

Stripe — payment processing when paid features are offered.

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

Published profile and community content is visible to other users and the public as described in the product.

We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the service.

Retention

We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to operate the service.

If you request deletion, we will remove or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, subject to backups and legal retention requirements.

Your choices and rights

You control what you publish. Unpublished drafts and private account fields stay out of public view.

You may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing support@ibuildinpublic.com.

You can opt out of non-essential marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Contact us at support@ibuildinpublic.com to exercise these rights.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, and security. These are required to sign in and use the platform.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to collect aggregate page-view and performance data (sent to vitals.vercel-analytics.com). This helps us understand traffic patterns and improve site speed. Vercel Analytics does not use cross-site advertising cookies.

When configured, we may also use Plausible Analytics, which collects aggregate usage data without cross-site tracking cookies.

Analytics runs for all visitors so we can measure and improve the service consistently. We describe our use of analytics here for transparency; essential auth cookies cannot be disabled while using a signed-in account.

You can manage non-essential browser cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in.
