On coding: choosing boring tech for speed

I almost rebuilt on a trendy stack because Twitter said so. Postgres, a monolith, and hosted auth were "boring" but already solved our problems. Staying boring meant hiring was easier, docs existed, and I shipped features instead of fighting framework upgrades. The product's value wasn't our queue system—it was the workflow. Boring tech is a competitive advantage when you're solo or small. Exciting tech is for teams with dedicated platform engineers.
